Assembly of gears on shafts and shaft pinions:
Save time and improve gear accuracy by having Riverside Spline and Gear assemble the gearing we produce for you.
We offer shrink fit assembly of much of the gearing we produce. This is a process of heating the gear or heating the gear and freezing the shaft prior to assembling. We can accommodate shrink fits up to .002" per inch of shaft diameter. (Note, It is our practice to temper carburized parts if they have been frozen for assembly.)
Having gearing assembled prior to final tooth grinding assures the pitch cylinder is accurately oriented to the axis of the shaft. This can improve gear quality and eliminates orientation problems, such as gear wobble, often introduced when assembling finished parts.
Please ask for this option in your request for quotation as some configurations are not feasible for final grinding on the shaft.
